Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternative
GAIA is a worldwide alliance of more than 800 mostly grassroots groups in over 90 countries whose ultimate vision is a just, toxic-free world without incineration. GAIA members use creative, bottom-up strategies to protect the climate and community health, and to advance environmental justice.
We work both against incinerators and for safe, sustainable and just alternatives. Our name reflects this dual purpose:
- The Global Anti-Incinerator Alliance: Mobilizing grassroots action against the spread of incinerators and other polluting, end-of-pipe waste technologies.
- The Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives: Building the movement for environmental justice, local green economies, and creative zero waste solutions.
CEPHED is a partner organization of with this Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternative (GAIA) and collaborating as well as coordinating with this network for several advocacy and campaign programs on waste, incineration, zero waste etc. initiatives. Production of IEC material on stop Incineration and launching it through organizing interaction program in several part of our country Nepal was an solidarity actions with this network as well as with IPEN.
So stop incineration to eliminate sources of POPs and other toxic chemicals: Separate Waste at Source and adopt 5R principles ( Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Recover and be Responsible).
