Mercury Free Health Care Services (MD)

Feasibility Study, Strategy Development and Launching of Mercury Free Health Care Services in Nepal.

CEPHED has carried out research on feasibility study of mercury free health care services in Nepal and also develop strategy paper on Mercury free health care services and while doing so, the series of interaction program on mercury free health care services has been organized.

In addition to this with the help of SSNC, Sweden, World Health Organization (WHO ) and UNDP GEF SGP POPs project has been successfully piloting six mercury free health care service delivery is going on without any problem. In those hospitals, mercury based equipments such as mercury thermometer and mercury sphygmomanometer were replaced with more economic and environmentally friendly safer alternative digital thermometer by CEPHED with the help of WHO, SSNC and UNDP GEF SGP.

With the support of CEPHED, six hospitals namely Propkar Maternity Hospital Thapathali, Stupa Community Hospital Jorpati, and Kanti Children Hospital, Marajgunj; Alka Hospital, Llaitpur; Blue Cross Hospital, Kathmandu and Dhulikhel Hospital, Kavre has becomes mercury free hospital and delivering mercury free health care services successfully.
